Verner Panton

1926-1998

Known for his colourful and geometric designs, Verner Panton (1926-1998) can be seen as one of the most important Danish designers of the 20th century. Not only is he well known for his bold furniture designs, including icons such as the ‘Panton’ chair, he is also counted among the most productive lightning designers of the twentieth century. For him, design and lightning created merely an atmosphere. By designing the whole of the spatial space, and eliminating uncontrollable components, such as daylight, Panton attempted to create interiors distinct from the outside world, bringing the viewer into a world in which his designs and colourful vision excelled.
