Early and Rare 'Savoy' Vase, Model no. 9750

Alvar Aalto

Produced by Karhula

1937

Hand blown glass into wooden mould.
Engraved 'Karhula 22 IX 37' to base.

Provenance:
When a group of journalists visited the Karhula glass factory 22th. September 1937 they were each presented with one of these vases. The rumour is, after a few snaps during the return train journey to Helsinki most of the vases were thrown out of the train windows resulting in these dated signed examples being extremely rare.
