Sigvard Bernadotte

1907-2002

The Swedish designer Sigvard Bernadotte (1907-2002) is renowned for his contributions across various design disciplines. He designed mainly silverware and household products. His collaborations with Georg Jensen are particularly celebrated. In the 1950s, Bernadotte began to design rugs for Nils Nessim's Textile Atelier in Sweden. His works are marked by a graphic balance, with traditional motifs which are simpified to a point of geometric abstraction.
