'Stella Punte 8' Wall Lamp

Gio Ponti

Produced by Arredoluce

1959

Opal glass, brass.
Acid paper label to the base.

Provenance:
Hotel 'London', Milan, 1959.

A certificate of expertise from the Gio Ponti Archives is included.

History:
The star motif—central to Ponti’s visual language—recurs throughout his career, from the mirrored furniture of the 1930s with Luigi Fontana to the celestial ceilings of Villa Arreaza and Villa Planchart. Like many of his late 1950s and early 1960s designs, this lamp was likely produced in very limited numbers, functioning more as an experimental model than a serial production piece. At the Hotel London in Milan, every room was equipped with lamps designed by Ponti, including the present example.
