Provenance;
Johanne Bissen (1862-1930, m. Benzon), son of sculptor Vilhelm Bissen (1836-1913) received the armchairs from his father. Vilhelm Bissen in turn had received them as a gift from his father, the sculptor HW Bissen (1798-1868). H. W. and V. Bissen were both, in different periods, professors and directors of the Academy of Art in Copenhagen residents Materialgaarden, HW 1840-1853, and V. Bissen.
