History:
Vackrare Vardagsvara was a chain of shops run by Wikman & Wiklund in collaboration with the Swedish Crafts Association, aiming to make artistically designed everyday objects accessible to a broader audience. Through the association’s Agency, artists such as Wilhelm Kåge, Simon Gate, Edward Hald, and Edvin Ollers were connected to the industry. The shop played a key role in launching modern pewter together with brothers Nils and Tage Fougstedt. Estrid Ericson also worked there and met the Fougstedts, an encounter that later led to the founding of Firma Svenskt Tenn in 1924. That same year, Wikman & Wiklund ended their collaboration with the association but continued producing “more beautiful everyday goods” and pewter objects with Edvin Ollers and the Schreuder & Olsson foundry.
