Ingererd Silow

1916-2005

Ingegerd Silow (1916-2005) was a Swedish textile artist, best known for her ambition to modernize the traditional Swedish "Rölakan" ("flat-weave") carpet to appeal to the thousands of Swedes who moved into new homes in the 1960s and 1970s. Although she also produced 'rya' rugs, she is mostly known for her rugs in flat-weave. Later during her career, in the 1970s, the colors she used became more vivid, with larger graphics.
