Bess Wissler

Berta 'Bess' Emilia Östrand (1866-1952) is a prominent Swedish ceramic artist and sculptor. Her artistic journey unfolded in Stockholm at the Tekniska Skolan, a pivotal meeting ground where she crossed paths with Anders Wissler, who would later become her husband. The duo founded Wissler Keramik in 1909, blending their creative visions. Bess's independent artistry was showcased at the Swedish art exhibition at Charlottenborg in 1916, highlighting her individual talent. Alongside her husband, she contributed to several public commissions. Her contributions are recognized and preserved within esteemed collections, including the National Museum in Stockholm.
