Anja Juurikkala

Anja Juurikkala (1923-2015), a renowned Finnish ceramic artist, made significant contributions to the field, particularly through her tenure at Arabia. She excelled in creating ceramic figurines, often inspired by animals and scenes from folk life, which she meticulously crafted and decorated. Juurikkala is celebrated for her distinctive designs on tableware, with her most famous collections including the hand-painted Aquarium and KRabba (Crayfish) series. She was known for her skillful use of chromium and other materials in her painting. Following her departure from Arabia in 1960, Juurikkala continued her artistic journey as a sculptor and educator.
