Alf Munthe

1892-1971

Alf Munthe (1892-1971) is known for his works paintings and textile works. In 1916, he completed the ceiling paintings in the Blå Porten restaurant at Liljevalchs, Stockholm, which are still intact today. It was during his first trip to Paris, in 1920, that he became interested in textile arts. During his career he was commissioned to make textile decorations for the Skandia cinema, by Gunnar Asplund, and contributed to the 'Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts' in Paris, 1926. His works are presented in the collection of, among others, the National Museum, Stockholm.
