Abele Jacopi

1882-1957

The Italian ceramic artist Abele Jacopi (1882-1957) is mostly known for his ceramic dolls. He started his career creating mostly public works, such as brass reliefs. In the mid 1930-s he took part in the competition in Turin for the 'Monument to Emanuele Fibiberto'. Since then he began working for clients outside the public sphere. In 1934 he started his collaboration with 'Ceramiche Lenci', a Turin factory. Here he started creating his now well known ceramic dolls.
