Early production Alvar Aaalto type 31/42 cantilevered armchair, originally designed for the Paimio Sanitorium. Laminated beech bentwood frame. Plywood and laminated Karelian birch seat. Ivorine Finmar tag. Designed in 1931/1932. Retailed in the UK by Finmar. Illustrated in Alvar Aalto Designer, Alvar Aalto museum, p. 35.

Patent application for Swedish patent on priority from England and Finmar 1933, probably on request from the well known co-owner of Finmar, architecture critic Philip Morton Shand. Patent No 91958 applied 8 of November 1933.
