"Surrea" Vases

Wilhelm Kåge
1950s
Ref. 3719

Stoneware with white glaze. Wilhelm Kåges split vases "Surrea" was first shown at the exhibition "Kaos in the oven" at Nordiska Kompaniet in 1940. Literature; Scandinavian ceramics & glass Victoria & Albert Museum.

Kåge produced a number of witty and elegant designs arising from his familiarity with the modern movement in painting and sculpture. Urbane and informed as always, here he is referring, with gentle humour, to cubism. The "Surrea" series included a range of cut and reassembled vases.
Produced by Gustavsberg.
